Purpose

Created by Grampa Jim, the Rib Rotor allows you to cook meat rotisserie-style at home in your own smoker. The Rib Rotor automatically bastes the meat while rotating it so there’s no uneven cooking. Forget having to watch a timer or opening the smoker door for basting breaks. You can just sit back, relax, and look forward to perfectly cooked meat.

The Problem

First, you have to remember to baste at regular intervals. Second, every time you open the smoker door, you lose valuable heat. Plus, you can only reach part of the meat, leaving the rest to dry out.

The Solution

… But now there’s the Rib Rotor!

Story Behind the Invention

Grampa Jim of Manassas, VA has created a self-basting rotisserie unit for use on a smoker.

Often meat will become dry if not basted several times during the cooking process. Basting can also be performed while cooking food on a smoker. However, a cook may easily forget about the next basting interval causing an entire meal to come out wrong. Plus, the door of the smoker must be opened to perform the basting process, thus causing uneven temperature regulation, all while exposing the cook to high heat levels.  Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the basting process only gets to part of the meat due to the meat’s position on the smoker grill. Grampa Jim just knew there had to be a better way. In turn, he was inspired to develop the Rib Rotor!

The invention allows you to cook meat rotisserie-style at home in your own smoker. It automatically bastes the meat while rotating it so there is no uneven cooking. Forget having to watch a timer or opening the smoker door for basting breaks! You can just sit back, relax, and look forward to perfectly cooked meat!
